Job Description

The NI Professional Services Resource Management Office (RMO) is focused on the efficient staffing of professional service engagements using both internal and contracted resources. The primary focus of the Resource Manager will be staffing projects and resource planning, working closely with internal stakeholders to ensure the right resources are in the right places at the right times. The Resource Manager is responsible for working with various internal stakeholders to ensure the project pipeline and associated resource demands are well understood. They will also work closely with department leadership to ensure the resources’ skills are kept up to date and sufficient capacity exists to satisfy current and future demand. The role requires a person who must think both logically and creatively, has strong communication skills in English (written and spoken), works well in a team environment, takes a business-focused approach, has a high degree of organization and is detail oriented.

Job responsibilities

  • Drive the fulfillment of project resource requests

  • Proactively communicate with project managers regarding resourcing status

  • Establish relationships with internal and external stakeholders to facilitate staffing

  • Work closely with line managers to confirm and publicize resource availability

  • Maintain the resourcing process for both hard and soft-booking of resources on projects

  • Generate various resource reports for regular distribution

  • Monitor team bandwidth and help maximize utilization of resources on customer projects

  • Analyze resource data and recommend strategies for addressing resource shortages or gaps

  • Maintain relationships with services partners and leverage them to fulfill resource requests

  • Lead key staffing and planning meetings within and outside Professional Services

  • Maintain current skill descriptions and skills hierarchy

  • Ensure skills data is kept current by engineering teams and their managers

  • Develop and conduct training on resource management topics

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Management Information Systems, Business, or a related field

  • Experience in professional services, RMO operations, or project management

  • Experience in generating and distributing resource, organization, and project-level reports

  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Tool Suite (Excel, PowerPoint)

  • Willingness and ability to travel domestically and internationally on occasion

Preferred Qualifications

  • Resource Management Certified Professional (RMCP)® Certification

  • 3+ Years of experience in Resource Management or a related role

  • Experience with specific PSA and CRM tool(s) such as Kimble and Salesforce

  • Strong understanding of capacity planning, resource forecasting, and utilization measurements

  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with project managers and solutions engineers
